Human platelet lysates are a part of blood donations, which can be used as a cell culture medium, with advantages for proliferation such as human growth factors. However, with the addition of calcium ions (e.g. with cell culture liquids), the lysate forms a gel, which inhibits proper cell proliferation. These gels are very weak and practically not measurable with a normal rheometer. Rheolaser Master measures at rest and without contact, which allows monitoring of the gelation properties even for very weak gels.
